Dr Femi Owolade
I am a researcher specialising in British colonialism, legal pluralism, and their enduring legacies in postcolonial Africa. My work explores how colonial legal infrastructures continue to shape contemporary legal orders and inequality.
I am an Associate Fellow of the Royal Historical Society. Previously, I was a Research Associate at Sheffield Hallam University. I completed my PhD at King's College London.
My forthcoming book, Legal Pluralism as a Colonial Project in Africa, will be published by Routledge in 2026. My commentary has appeared in Al Jazeera and The Conversation.
