Dr Femi Owolade
I am a researcher specialising in British colonialism, legal pluralism, and their enduring legacies in postcolonial Nigeria and beyond. My work explores how colonial legal infrastructures continue to shape contemporary legal orders and inequality in Africa.
I am an Associate Fellow of the Royal Historical Society. Previously, I was a Research Associate at Sheffield Hallam University. I completed my PhD at King's College London.
My forthcoming book, Legal Pluralism as a Colonial Project in Africa, will be published by Routledge in 2026. My commentary has appeared in Al Jazeera, Gatestone Institute, and The Conversation.
